HANDS in Autism® is excited to offer our popular virtual Make It Take It Workshops—interactive, hands-on sessions designed to help families, educators, and providers create practical tools they can use immediately in home, school, and community settings.
These workshops combine evidence-based strategies with creativity and collaboration. Participants learn how to design and build visual supports, communication tools, structured tasks, sensory systems, and other materials that promote independence, reduce challenging behavior, and support learning. Best of all—you leave with the materials in hand, ready to implement right away.
What to Expect in a Make It Take It Workshop:
- Guided instruction from HANDS specialists on evidence-based practices and how to apply them
- Hands-on creation time with all materials provided
- Practical examples tailored to a variety of ages, abilities, and environments
- Take-home tools that are personalized to the individual you support
- A supportive environment for learning, asking questions, and sharing ideas
Whether you’re a family member looking to better support daily routines, an educator wanting to strengthen classroom structure, or a provider seeking new ways to customize interventions, these workshops offer meaningful, actionable skills you can use the same day.
Why “Make It Take It”?
Visual supports and structured materials are critical for many individuals with autism and related developmental disabilities. Instead of only hearing about these tools, participants get to build them—ensuring they understand how to individualize, implement, and adapt them over time.
