As summer begins, HANDS is excited to offer a series of small group sessions and multi-day workshops designed to support personal growth, independence, and meaningful connection. Whether you're looking to build stronger relationships, prepare for life transitions, or simply improve everyday skills, our June programming offers something for everyone.
This month’s lineup includes a wide variety of topics that speak to real-life needs and experiences—from budgeting and meal planning to celebrating safely with friends and family. Each session is designed to be engaging, supportive, and hands-on, with opportunities for participants to ask questions, share experiences, and build confidence in a welcoming group setting.
Small Group Sessions
Four small group sessions will be running throughout June, each focused on building practical skills and fostering connection:
- How to Maintain Friendships
This session explores the key ingredients of lasting friendships, including communication, trust, and how to navigate conflict in healthy ways.
- Amusement Park Survival Guide
Perfect for the summer season, this group offers fun and practical tips for planning a successful trip to the amusement park—covering everything from staying safe in crowds to sticking to a budget.
- Saving and Budgeting
Participants will learn accessible strategies for tracking spending, setting financial goals, and building healthy money habits for long-term success.
- Meal Planning 101
This session is all about making mealtimes easier. We'll walk through the basics of planning, shopping, and prepping meals that are both nutritious and budget-friendly.
Multi-Day Workshops
For those looking for deeper learning and skill-building, HANDS is also offering two multi-day workshops:
- Basic Cooking Skills
This workshop provides step-by-step instruction in essential kitchen techniques. It's ideal for beginners or anyone looking to build confidence in the kitchen with healthy, easy-to-make recipes.
- Moving Out
Preparing for independence? This multi-session group covers everything you need to know about living on your own, from budgeting and bill-paying to cleaning, safety, and setting up your new space.
Community Connections: Celebrating Safely
In addition to our skills-based sessions, we’re hosting a special Community Connections group focused on “Celebrating with Safety in Mind.” This timely conversation will look at how we can enjoy holidays, gatherings, and special events while staying safe—physically, emotionally, and socially.
