Description: Maintaining personal hygiene may be challenging for some individuals with autism spectrum disorder and related disabilities. One of the challenges may be forgetting to do it if it is not part of a morning routine schedule and/or forgetting steps of how to do it properly. Yet, personal hygiene and grooming skills are important for socialization at school, work, and in the community. Utilizing an activity schedule can help remind about the needed steps. Use enough prompting to ensure the individual completes the task but fade out slowly to support independence.
