“After the class learning how to process everything throughly enough to where not only I can understand each and every step but being able to explain it to someone else and make sure they understand as well. I learned how to teach in different styles, and that helped so much with job coaching and the discovery process that we go through with each individual.”
- 3-Day Traning Participant
Join the HANDS in Autism® Team for an intensive, hands-on training focused on innovative, interactive experiences and coaching in simulated and real-world work settings. For more than 11 years, this training has been offered and supported those working in Vocational Rehabilitation, Pre-Employment Transition Services, transition-age resource classrooms, workplaces, adulty day activity centers, and more.
Training days consist of a combination of independent and group learning opportunities enhanced by simulated and live practice of skills and strategies with youth with disabilities allowing for ongoing modeling, coaching, feedback and mentoring from HANDS trainers. Topics are scaffolded as part of the HANDS Model Training Curriculum, Framework and Process, to first consider how the environment is setup and proactive supports could be put in place to best support individuals followed by practice in assessing, setting goals or targets, individualizing and generalizing teaching, and working to collaborate for sustainability across the many persons and settings that support individuals.
