We are thrilled to share the latest updates from the Developmental Disabilities and Autism ECHO program at Indiana University School of Medicine. This innovative initiative connects individuals and their comprehensive care systems with subject matter experts through regular, real-time collaborative sessions. The program aims to advance learning and practice in serving individuals with developmental disabilities (DD) and autism spectrum disorder (ASD).
The Developmental Disabilities/Autism ECHO webinar series features a subject matter expert (SME) who presents for approximately 20 minutes, followed by a Q&A session. Afterward, a case study is presented. The SME and panelists then brainstorm supports and resources based on questions from the case presenter. This format provides a fantastic opportunity to share information and support individuals of any age in real-time with concerns related to autism and/or developmental disabilities. It fosters a nonjudgmental brainstorming environment where not only the SME and panelists, but also anyone listening, can contribute resources and supports.
Since 2024, the focus of the ECHO program has expanded to include a broader range of topics relevant to healthcare providers, individuals, caregivers, community providers, educators, and justice personnel. By participating in these sessions, you will gain valuable insights and mentorship from leading professionals in the field.
We invite you to join us in this transformative journey to improve the accessibility and quality of care for individuals with DD and ASD. Your participation and input are crucial to our ongoing efforts to support individuals across lifespans and settings.
